Business development activities will be coordinated through a dedicated BBBDI website, and every event will be targeted to specifically address the area and level of business skills that have been identified as priorities.

Steering Committee member Bronwyn Reid from Mining For Business in Emerald said, “This is an

important development for our region. Now, we can make sure we are working together to deliver the best possible training for our businesses, and make the best possible use of our limited resources.” Bronwyn said that the Initiative has grown locally, out of local business concerns. “It is addressing the real needs of our regional business communities,” she said. Business owners will be able to use an assessment tool to find where they need additional skills, and then choose appropriate training.

Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker commended the Steering Committee on their collaboration efforts. “On behalf of Council and our business community, I am looking forward to officially welcoming the overall initiative into the Isaac region September 18th. “This contemporary approach will enable government, community and industry to support businesses throughout the region more effectively.”

All key stakeholders will be able to seek permission to brand their training and business events with the BBBDI logo, and list them on the Initiative’s website. The strategy that provides the framework for the initiative will also be available on the website www.bbbdi.com.au from this date. The strategy sets out the future potential of the BBBDI, including the introduction of business mentoring to help business owners put the skills they are learning into practice in their own business.

The workshop and launch of the BBBDI have been generously funded by the Local Buying Community Foundation. The Foundation has been a long-term supporter of the Initiative.

Contact Name: Bronwyn Reid

Organisation Bowen Basin Business Development Initiative Steering Committee

Phone Number 0417 602 981

Email b.reid@miningforbusiness.com.au
